Mikado Toxy FR – Free Spool Fishing Reel

Mikado Toxy FR is a compact free spool fishing reel designed for feeder fishing and a range of bottom fishing techniques. It is particularly well suited to traditional feeder setups, Method Feeder fishing and lighter carp fishing arrangements. Combining robust construction, powerful gearing and a precisely adjustable drag system, the Toxy FR is a practical choice for anglers who regularly fish commercial fisheries and natural waters. Its versatile design makes it suitable for situations where controlled line release and reliable performance when playing larger fish are important.

The key feature of the Mikado Toxy FR is its integrated free spool system, which allows fish to take line after a bite without having to loosen the main drag. This is particularly useful when fishing with rods positioned on rests, whether using Method Feeder rigs, traditional feeders or light carp fishing setups. Once the free spool mechanism is disengaged, the main drag provides control during the fight. The robust gearing with a 4.6:1 gear ratio supports efficient retrieval of loaded feeders and bottom fishing rigs, while 6 bearings in a 5+1 configuration contribute to smooth and consistent operation.

The Mikado Toxy FR 5006 weighs 460 g and offers a maximum drag force of 20 kg, providing substantial power when playing stronger fish. With a line retrieve of 91 cm per handle turn, the reel allows anglers to retrieve their rigs efficiently, including when fishing at longer distances. It features an aluminium spool with a capacity of 300 m of 0.20 mm line or 190 m of 0.25 mm line. The combination of generous spool capacity, durable gearing and a free spool mechanism makes the Toxy FR well suited to a variety of feeder and bottom fishing applications.

Mikado Toxy FR is a practical choice for anglers looking for a versatile baitrunner-style reel for feeder fishing, Method Feeder and lighter carp fishing. The free spool system provides convenient line release while waiting for a bite, while the robust gearing and powerful drag system offer the strength needed when playing larger fish. The Toxy FR 5006 is particularly suitable for commercial carp fisheries, where anglers often switch between traditional feeder techniques and light carp rigs. Its combination of a free spool mechanism, 4.6:1 gearing and 20 kg maximum drag makes it a capable reel for demanding bottom fishing situations.
